Summertime Stains

12 June 2015

Hello everyone, summer is in full swing and we hope everyone is enjoying this time of the year when warm weather reigns, the sun shines longer, and we can all spend more time outdoors doing the things we love. Summer seams to come with its own set of fun activities like hiking, eating ice cream, having picnics and barbecues, and going swimming. These things all can cause their own unique stains to clothes, but that’s no reason to not enjoy this wonderful time of year. Go ahead and enjoy your summer and we’ll help you take care of any summertime stains you might encounter!

Grass Stains: grass stains are very common during the summer months and come in many varieties. Luckily, they are fairly simple to remove. For really tough grass stains we recommend soaking the garment in a bowl of warm water with a small amount of laundry detergent for about 30 minutes and then simply follow the normal launder instructions.

Mud Stains: little ones are bound to get muddy during their summer adventures. The best way to treat these stains is to let the mud dry and then remove as much of the mud as possible with a utensil. Once that is complete, wet the affected area, apply a small amount of detergent and rub the stain out. Once you’ve treated the stain launder normally.

Ice Cream Stains: ice cream is both delicious and dangerous, so be careful when you’re enjoying this summer treat. If you get an ice cream stain we recommend soaking the garment in cool water for 10 minutes. After that rub some detergent into the stain followed by 30 more minutes of soaking in room temperature water. Finally, apply some sort of spot remover for 7-10 minutes before laundering normally.

Ketchup/Mustard Stains: It’s difficult to have a proper barbecue without ketchup and mustard present, and stains are bound to happen here. First of all, scrape away the excess condiment, and then run the affected area under cool water. Next, rub the stain out with detergent, working your way from the outside of the stain inward. For white garments you may try applying some lemon juice or white vinegar as a bleaching element. Of course, launder as normal once the stain is removed.

Sunscreen Stains: These stains may happen during your day at the beach or pool, and fortunately it doesn’t take much to conquer them. We recommend applying a spot remover to the stain, and then pretreating by rubbing it with warm water and detergent before washing it normally.

Happy summer to everyone, and now that you know how to handle the stains, have fun out there without worrying!

May 18th, 2015 | Allergy Awareness Month

May is Allergy Awareness Month, just in time for the usual slew of allergens to return in the spring time.. With 1 in 5 Americans suffering from either allergy or asthma symptoms, we need to do all we can to ensure we have clean homes to reduce the effects of these illnesses. Chem-Dry specializes in exactly that. We fight allergens and make your home cleaner and healthier to make the transition into spring easier on you and your family. Aside from having your home cleaned by us there are additional steps you can take to reduce the effects of the season:

Spring Cleaning: By keeping your home clean and tidy you can help reduce the amount of allergens and dust mites that exist in your home. Do simple things like emptying the trash daily, washing your bedding often, changing the filter in your furnace and air conditioner, and getting rid of any mildew. You’ll be surprised how such simple changes can make a big difference.

Keep Allergens at Bay: Part of the problem is that allergens cling to us and follow us into our homes. One way to keep them at bay is to remove your shoes, jacket, and hat when you enter the home. This way you leave them at the door instead of allowing them to tag along through the rest of the house. Another smart tip is to bathe at night, or even simply wash your hair before bed. This keeps your sleeping area clean and allergen free, which will allow you to get great sleep and wake up refreshed each day!

Pet Control: We all love our pets, but they are a common cause of allergies. There are some simple things you can do to reduce the allergy effects of having a pet while still being able to have them as part of your family. You’ll want to keep your pets off of couches, beds, and other living areas and ensure you clean up after them regularly. This includes bathing them on a regular basis. Your pets are lucky to have you, and following these simple tips can allow you to enjoy them without suffering from allergies.

When choosing a carpet cleaner, it’s important to know about the Reliant Chem-Dry method. Our innovative products and solutions allow us to clean deeper and healthier than any other brand. By utilizing the power of carbonation in our unique solutions, we have pioneered an entirely new way of cleaning that allows us to make your carpets look and feel like new again.

The "lifting" properties in carbonation are easy to see when you pour a carbonated drink into a glass. Many times it causes an overflow when the fizz and bubbles rush to the top. The explosive reaction created by the carbonation in our solution penetrates deeply into your carpet and releases dirt and grime from each individual carpet fiber. This reaction has been configured to collect these excess particles and lift them out of your carpets, where they are then extracted using hot water. This removes all dirt from your carpets completely, giving them the most satisfying and thorough clean available on the market.

Steam cleaners, on the other hand, use gallons of water and high pressure to clean your carpets. You carpets may seem clean, but in reality the dirt has just been pushed further down and is creating a breeding ground for mold and bacteria! With all that extra water they dumped most carpets won't be dry for days. On the other hand, because of the minimal amount of water required for the Reliant Chem-Dry method, your carpets will dry within just 1-2 hours! In the time steam cleaning your carpets would take we can have you cleaned and back to your normal routine.
That’s the Chem-Dry difference.

No matter your budget, we're confident you can experience our amazing services. For the best carpet cleaning available, call us today!

When should you get your carpets cleaned, and when is it an easy fix? In reality, a good deal of spots on your carpet would probably come out with a few simple steps, which most professionals would never tell you. Here at Chem-Dry, customer satisfaction comes first so we are going to share a few of these tips with you.

To apply the first remedy, you only need a white towel and some warm water. Just wet the stain and blot your carpet with the cloth. Be careful not to rub the spot too vehemently, as this will only spread the stain around and damage the carpet fibers. Gently dab to move the stain from the carpet to your towel. As you are blotting the stain, check the towel to see if the towel is darkening.  The darkening will indicate that the stain is transferring. If the stain is not coming out of the carpet, do not continue this process.

Replacing the water with club soda is the next technique to try if water alone couldn't lift the stain. Chem-Dry uses club soda as a key ingredient, making it an excellent solution for removing those tough stains. You'll use the towel once more to blot and transfer the stain from your carpet. If you don't see any results with club soda or warm water, call us at Chem-Dry and we can get the job done! We are confident you will love the methods used by Chem-Dry. Particles will be removed from the individual fibers leaving your carpets cleaner than ever. Give us a call to put our stain removal to the test!

*Based on studies conducted by independent laboratories of Chem-Dry’s HCE (Hot Carbonating Extraction), P.U.R.T. (Pet Urine Removal Treatment), Granite Countertop Renewal, and Tile, Stone & Grout cleaning processes. Allergens tested were dog and cat dander and dust mite allergen. Pet odor results based on testing with the most common odor sources found in dog and cat urine. Pet urine bacteria results based on Chem-Dry’s HCE cleaning process and a sanitizer, combined with P.U.R.T. All bacteria results include use of sanitizer. Figures are an average across multiple tests.
